MoreBikes caught up with Electric drive systems pioneers T&D in 2023 at Motorcycle Live and were impressed with their innovations. They’ve now been showcasing their most diverse range of sample electric motorcycles to date, in Shanghai at the 2024 edition of China Cycle.
T&D is presenting six complete sample electric motorcycles at its booth at China Cycle, which is taking place in the Shanghai New International Expo Center until close of play May 8th. The models on show feature five distinct, complete powertrains across three different motorcycle categories – off-road, city and touring. This show often represents a chance for keen industry eyes to pick up on emerging products and trends, and with this being the most complete range of T&D-equipped cycles to be exhibited to date, visitors to China Cycle have the honour of being first to see a wide range of models powered by T&D at a trade show in Asia.
Each of the motorcycles on show features a combination of T&D-engineered components which together form an efficient and harmonious powertrain: motors, batteries, controllers, HMIs, VCUs, charging units and connectors, DCDC converters and cable harnesses are all developed by T&D. Each combination is tailored to a specific usage scenario, ensuring optimum performance for riders, and a smooth development process for product designers in the electric motorcycle industry.

The exhibited range features two different off-road powertrains in three sample motorcycles (one model equipped with FE01, and two with FE02, from brands Binsen and Dimen), two city powertrains (LI03 and LI05) and one touring powertrain (HU06).
FE01 off-road system
This powertrain is designed to be light, compact and robust, to easily handle the demands of track riding with responsive, powerful performance. Acceleration from 0-50km/h in 3.2s, with a max speed of 85km/h and climbing ability of 30°.
FE02 off-road system
A lightweight powertrain custom-designed for young and beginner riders, with easy-to-manage riding mode limitation functions, ensuring a perfect balance of performance, safety and fun. Acceleration from 0-50km/h in 3s, with a max speed of 70km/h and climbing ability of 30°.
LI03 city system
A powertrain designed to be both nimble and durable, ensuring reliable daily riding in urban scenarios. Acceleration from 0-50km/h in 2.6s, with a max speed of 100km/h, climbing ability of 24°, and up to 185km range.
LI05 city system
A long-life battery powertrain, designed for city commuting scenarios. Acceleration from 0-50km/h in 1.5s, with a max speed of 130km/h, climbing ability of 35° and up to 215km range.
HU06 touring system
A powertrain designed with a long-life battery to meet the needs of touring riding scenarios. Acceleration from 0-50km/h in 1.4s, with a max speed of 130km/h, climbing ability of 35° and up to 220km range.
