It’s the most bizzare of biking stories from the past seven days and it’s still going strong – the fugitive biker who was chased by seven police cars and two helicopters during a 100mph+ chase, crashed twice then raced away without his helmet before fleeing on foot says he’ll give himself up to police.
According to Sussex paper The Argos, the man has been identified as Gavin Collett, pictured above, and has told the paper that he avoided the police by going for a haircut – once he’d ditched his motorcycle.

The 32-year-old said the motorcycle could not be ridden at 100 miles an hour as was claimed by the police last Thursday because ‘it hurts too much’ without a helmet on.
He told the paper that he intended to hand himself in last night to avoid police officers kicking down the doors of his friends and family. He is quoted in The Argos as saying: “I have organised it with Hampshire Police that I will hand myself in. I don’t want doors being kicked in. My dad has got a respectful job, I don’t want lots of police.”
Mr Collett contacted The Argus saying that he was unhappy with how he was being portrayed in other newspapers.
