R&G crash protection gets motorcycle home after big smash

Check out this picture of R&G customer, Peter Burch. Peter was enjoying a track day at Castle Combe in August on his 2004 Kawasaki ZX-10R and would love to say he was pulling off this impressive, tyre-smoking power slide lap after lap – but that’s not exactly what happened next after this photo was taken by his friend, Joe Allison.

Unfortunately – and possibly predictably – Peter was thrown off the bike after a massive highside. This is what happened, in his own words.

Peter Burch: “I was full throttle, 2nd gear and 100mph cranked over before the start finish and then the rear lit up and then I managed to highside. I am pleased to say that I am ok but – more importantly – so is the bike. 

“The highside catapulted me in the air in front of the bike, which then caught me up and crashed with me onto the grass on the left side of the picture. The R&G protection definitely saved my bike from a lot of damage. You can see from the pictures where they have taken a lot of weight and prevented any damage to the forks, clips-ons and exhaust.

“The bike was bodged together enough for my friend Joe to ride it 60 miles home to Southampton and he reported that the bike was still straight. Being a body panel beater/painter, Joe assured me that the R&G crash protection products saved my bike from being much worse off.

“As for me, I am walking wounded with bruises and nasty friction burn to my left hand where my glove came off underneath the bike when it landed on top of me and came to a stop but all in all I am perfectly fine.”
